Online
RecommendedOnline seats do not require a constant internet connection. Launch the plugin while online about once a week and that machine's seat refreshes. Go longer and it gives you a 3-day heads-up before anything locks.
Moves between your own machines are unlimited. Deactivate a seat in the Portal, then activate on the new machine; the plugin opens the Portal to sign you in, so there is no license key to type. Each new activation has a 7-day cooldown before it can move again.*
Permanent offline
For machines that never connect to the internet. Copy the machine's fingerprint into the Portal from any online device, download its license file, and carry it over. A permanent offline seat never needs refreshing, but it cannot be moved and permanently occupies a seat on your license.**
Temporary offline
A hybrid for short-term offline use. You pick an expiration date between 14 and 90 days when you activate. Temporary offline seats cannot be moved before that date.**
After expiration, the seat stays on your license, so renewing the same machine is one click in the Portal. Done with that machine? Release the seat and it frees up for use anywhere.
Which should you use?
Three common setups and the seats that fit them.
Two computers, both online sometimes
A main laptop and a backup, or a desktop at home and a laptop on the go. Use two online seats.
An air-gapped studio machine plus a laptop
Use a permanent offline seat for the studio computer and an online seat for the laptop.
Rented live DSP hardware
Running a unit like SuperRack LiveBox or transform.engine on a tour, where you cannot reliably get it online and do not want to permanently use a seat on hardware you will return. Use a temporary offline seat with the expiration set after your last show.
* The cooldown caps how often a seat can move, never how many times. If a machine is lost, stolen, or dead and you cannot deactivate it yourself, email support@castle11labs.com and we will release the seat.
** We can release offline seats on a case-by-case basis. Email support@castle11labs.com to deactivate a permanent offline seat or end a temporary offline seat early.
The 14-day trial is its own license on one machine. It does not use a seat, and buying issues a fresh license.
Both seats in use? A third machine cannot activate until you deactivate one in the Portal.
Licenses are personal to the purchaser and cannot be sold or transferred to another person. The EULA has the full terms.
