Each seat can be activated in one of three ways.
Online
RecommendedOnline seats do not require a constant internet connection. Launch any Castle 11 Labs plugin while online about once a week and all of your online seats refresh at once. You never need to refresh each plugin individually.
If you go longer than a week, the plugin gives you a 3-day heads-up before anything locks. You are never cut off without warning.
Online seats have unlimited transfers.* Deactivate a seat in the web license portal, then reactivate on your new machine with your license key.
Permanent Offline
For machines that never connect to the internet. A permanent offline seat never needs refreshing, but it cannot be transferred. Activating one permanently occupies a seat on your license.**
Temporary Offline
A hybrid for short-term offline use. You pick an expiration date between 14 and 90 days when you activate. Temporary offline seats cannot be transferred before that date.**
After expiration, the seat stays on your license so that renewing the same machine is one click in the web license portal, with no fingerprint to re-enter. Done with that machine? Release the seat in the portal and it frees up for use anywhere.
Which Should You Use?
Three common setups and the seats that fit them.
Two computers, both online sometimes.
A main laptop and a backup, or a desktop at home and a laptop on the go. Use two online seats.
An air-gapped studio machine plus a laptop.
Use a permanent offline seat for the studio computer and an online seat for the laptop.
Rented live DSP hardware.
Running a unit like SuperRack LiveBox or transform.engine on a tour, where you cannot reliably get it online and do not want to permanently use a seat on hardware you will return. Use a temporary offline seat with the expiration set after your last show.
* Transfers are unlimited. We never cap how many times you can move your license, only how often: each new activation has a short cooldown before it can be deactivated.
** We can release offline seats on a case-by-case basis. Contact us to deactivate a permanent offline seat or end a temporary offline seat early.
